Monrovia, Liberia – The 2023 Farmington River Declaration has drawn criticism from the political leader of the Vision for Liberia’s Transformation Party, Dr. Jeremiah Wapo, who described it as a plan to rig the October elections. About 26 political parties agreed to use legal channels to resolve any conflicts that might occur during the voting process when they signed the Farmington River Declaration in April.

During a press conference on Tuesday, May 17, 2023, in Monrovia, Dr. Wapo stated that his party purposefully declined to sign the agreement and would uphold all of its terms. The VOLT Standard Bearer stated that his party will not resolve electoral issues through the legal system due to the judiciary’s alleged corruption and lack of integrity.

The presidential hopeful, however, asserted that rather than bringing about the promised peace, President George Weah had further polarized the nation. By fostering conditions that would allow all Liberians to gain from a thriving economy during his presidency, he promised to pave the way for national unification.
