Four Suspects Arrested
River Gee County – In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, officers from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) arrested four individuals in River Gee County on December 4, 2025. The arrests occurred during two separate operations aimed at combating the spread of narcotic substances in the region.
The first incident took place at the Gbeapo Kanweaken checkpoint, where LDEA officers apprehended two young men, Dennis D. Toe, 18, and Aaron P. Toe, 19, as they traveled from Kanweaken City to Sinoe County. Both suspects, identified as local transporters, were found in possession of 20 strips of Tramadol, five plastic containers of tablets, and a quantity of KUSH, estimated to have a street value of approximately L$165,000.
Upon their arrest, both young men were transported to the LDEA Charge of Quarters in Fish Town for further investigation. They remain in custody while the case is processed through the legal system. In a separate operation on the same day, the LDEA River Gee Detachment collaborated with a sheriff from the Gbeapo Kanweaken Magisterial Court to execute a Search and Seizure warrant in Podroken Town.
This operation led to the arrest of two local farmers, Koffa Chea Williams, 52, and Swen Tuwelleh, 62. The agents confiscated an impressive haul of narcotics, including 233.1 grams of marijuana seeds, more than 3,000 individual seeds, and 87 grams of processed marijuana. Williams was found with 152.2 grams of marijuana seeds, while Tuwelleh was arrested with 87 grams of processed marijuana and 80.9 grams of seeds.
The street value of the confiscated items has not yet been determined. Both suspects were subsequently handed over to the LDEA for further investigation and will also face legal proceedings in due course. Special Agent Bill Cooper Jr. urged the local community to take action against drug dealers and users.
“The spread of narcotic substances is destroying the next generation,” he stated, emphasizing the urgency with which the issue must be confronted. The LDEA’s proactive approach in River Gee County not only reflects their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking but also highlights the importance of community involvement in the fight against substance abuse.
As investigations into these cases continue, authorities are expected to enhance their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. Special Agent Bill Cooper Jr. urged the local community to take action against drug dealers and users.
