LEC Takes Action to Resolve Meter Confusion With a Significant Public Awareness Campaign

Reported by: Prince Saah

Monrovia, Liberia – A nationwide public awareness campaign has been initiated by the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) with the goal of streamlining the meter application process and assisting consumers in learning how to report stolen meters, replace broken meters and get new power connections.

According to a July 7, 2026, release, the initiative, which is led by LEC’s Media, Communications, and Public Affairs Department in partnership with the Customer Service and Community Engagement units, aims to address common issues that frequently cause customer applications to be delayed while providing clear and accurate information on meter-related services.

The campaign will, however, concentrate on three main areas: how to replace stolen meters, how to replace broken or malfunctioning meters, and how to obtain new power connections. The goal of the awareness campaign, according to LEC, is to enhance the customer experience by guaranteeing that applicants have the information they need to successfully finish the connection procedure while lowering uncertainty over meter applications.

The corporation will employ a variety of communication channels, such as interactive radio talk shows, video dramas, audio jingles, print publications, social media campaigns, flyer distribution at public buildings and customer service centres, public service announcements, and community outreach initiatives, in order to reach a larger audience.

Through these interactions, clients will learn more about the Corporation’s customer care practices, get helpful advice on the application process, and have the chance to speak with LEC specialists directly.

According to LEC, the initiative is a component of its larger goal to increase consumer involvement, enhance service delivery, and guarantee that clients throughout Liberia have access to trustworthy information and assistance during the meter application process.
