Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia national football team have discovered their opponents for the Total Energies AFCON 2027 qualifiers after being drawn in Group K alongside Mali national football team, Cape Verde national football team, and Rwanda national football team. As Liberia looks to make a long-awaited return to Africa’s largest football competition, the draw sets up a difficult but promising path for the Lone Star.

Cape Verde continues to gain regard as one of Africa’s most competitive and well-organised sides, while Mali enters the group as favourites because of their strength and experience on the global scene. With the benefit of playing in Kigali, Rwanda will also be confident in their ability to make an impression.
Many Liberian supporters believe the group has a real chance to qualify despite the obstacle that lies ahead. This draw gives Liberia a realistic opportunity to compete fiercely if the team can remain consistent throughout the qualifications, in contrast to earlier campaigns that included some of the continent’s traditional giants.
While fighting hard for significant outcomes away from Monrovia, the Lone Star will be expected to maximize points at home. Liberia’s chances will be largely determined by preparation, team cohesion, tactical discipline, and great performances from key players. Fans are already getting excited because they think this could be one of Liberia’s best chances in recent years to strive for qualification, and the AFCON 2027 qualifiers are predicted to be hotly contested.
The journey now begins for the Lone Star as they prepare to face some of Africa’s toughest competition in pursuit of a place at AFCON 2027.
