FINANCE MINISTRY FAILS TO SUBMIT 2023 BUDGET PERFORMANCE REPORT AND DOMESTIC DEBT PAYEMENT PROFILE

Capitol Hill, Monrovia – In response to the Finance Ministry’s failure to deliver the 2023 budget performance report and domestic debt payment profile, the Liberian Senate has promised not to vote on the draft recast budget, according to a report from the chamber.

The Liberian Senate Plenary has said that it will not accept President Weah’s submission of the draft recast budget if the Ministry of Finance fails to provide the 2023 budget performance report and domestic debt payment profile before that body.

Following the reading of the President’s communication before that body, Senator Darius Dillon of Montserrado made a motion that ultimately led to the decision. Additionally, the plenary instructed its Ways, Means, Finance, and Budget committees as well as the Public Account Committee to oversee the proposed recast budget up until the Ministry of Finance turns in the required documentation.
