Majority Bloc Suspends Three Minority Members

Monrovia, Liberia – Three lawmakers who support the embattled Speaker, Representatives Edward P. Flomo of Montserrado County District #13, Abu Kamara of District #14, and Marvin Cole of Bong County District #3 are suspended for 30 days and will forfeit their salaries and legislative benefits.

With three abstentions, the majority group overwhelmingly decided to ban the legislators from entering Capitol property while they are suspended.

New heads of important legislative committees have been nominated by the dissident legislators who have promised not to serve under Speaker J. Fonati Koffa’s gavel. Deposed Representative Dixon Seboe has been replaced as Acting Chair of Ways, Means, and Finance by Representative Mike Jurry of Maryland County District #1.

Marvin Cole has been replaced by Representative James Kolleh of Bong County District #2 as the Acting Chair onย Rules, Order, and Administration.

As for the Committee on Public Accounts and Audit, Representative Dorwon Gleekia has been replaced as Acting Co-Chair by Representative Prince Koniah of Bong County District #1.
