NEC Dismisses Chambers’ Allegations

DECLEARS ANTHONY WILLIAMS WINNER OF MARYLAND COUNTY DISTRICT #2.

Sinkor, Monrovia – The National Elections Commission (NEC) hearing officers in the case involving Anthony F. Williams vs. Speaker Bhofal Chambers, Maryland County electoral District #2, finally ruled in favor of Anthony Williams. Speaker Chambers’ assertions were rejected by the hearing officers on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the NEC headquarters in Monrovia, on the grounds that there was insufficient proof.

It can be recalled that on October 13, 2023, Speaker Chambers filed a complaint alleging that NEC employees in Old Sodeken’s precinct 27020 had committed what he described as voting fraud. The NEC’s inquiry also produced a different story, according to the hearing officers, refuting Chambers’ claims that extra ballot papers were provided to NEC employees.

Speaker Chambers also asserted that supernatural forces, specifically the “country devil,” were obstructing the voting process. The hearing officers rejected this claim and said it was unfounded. The commission maintained that the precinct center operated smoothly without any mystical interference.

Meanwhile, the legal team representing Speaker Chambers submitted an appeal to the board of commissioners.

Representative-elect Anthony William of Maryland County District #2 stated that he would bring the residents of Pleebo Sodeken District together. pointing out that the path forward lies in transformation and representation.

In addition, he informed his fellow citizens of his resolve and dedication to the district’s development and thanked them for their overwhelming support during the elections.

Anthony F. Williams, a relatively unknown young politician and former student leader, surprisingly defeated the speaker. The Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) candidate Williams received 8,105 votes, or 45.29 percent, in a hotly contested ballot; Speaker Chambers received 8,024, or 44.82 percent, resulting in a narrow margin of 82 votes, or 0.47%. Speaker Chambers’ 18-year political reign in Maryland is over, having served as Speaker of the House of Representatives for six of those years.
