A Political pressure group under the banner Nimba Renewal Movement has resolved to unanimously campaign against the re-election of President George Weah if he continues to do business with Senator Prince Johnson.
The group, through its coordinator Fredrick Baye, spoke to journalists over the weekend in Paynesville that the sanctioned Nimba Senator had succeeded over the years in preaching divisive politics in the County and at the same time was allegedly buying Nimbaian votes for his own benefit by using the Movement for Democratic Reconstruction ( MDR).
Mr. Baye is pleading with the international community to impose sanctions on prominent Nimba sons who continue to do business with Senator Prince Johnson and other politicians who have been subject to sanctions by the US government under the Global Manisky Act.
The group argued that because Senator Johnson is a close friend of President Weah, it would be more comfortable to give him other positions in the government, such as Liberia’s ambassador to the United States, rather than forcing him to serve the people of Nimba for a third term as a senator of the county given the current strife among Nimbaians.
To restore harmony in the County, the organization has claimed that the people of Nimba have agreed to elect Mr. James Hallowanger as a senator in the 2023 election, adding that he is a complete unifier. If President George Weah continues to do business with Senator Prince Johnson, the political pressure group has also threatened to campaign alongside the Nimba University Students Association against Weah’s reelection.
The Campus based Students believe that the sanctioned Nimba Senator should step aside and allow a new breed of Leadership to steer the affairs of the county nothing that Senator Johnson have succeeded in dividing the county over the years in preaching divisive politics the student Leader Printiss Domah asserted. He calmed that there are young people in the county who qualify as such, they should be given the chance to transform the county.
