Monrovia, Liberia – Following their confirmation by the Liberian Senate, President Joseph N. Boakai commissioned more than 98 government officials on Tuesday, January 21.
Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, Minister of Commerce; Amb. Lewis Brown II, Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Liberia to the United States of America; Amb. Genevieve A. Kennedy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Permanent Representative of Liberia to the Court of St. James; and Amb. Dr. Teeko Tozay Yorlay Sr., Ambassador Extraordinary and Permanent Representative of Liberia to the Republic of France, were among the government officials who were commissioned during the ceremony held at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.
Those commissioned were selected to serve the people and the nation as a whole, President Boakai stated that being assigned to a government is a privilege rather than a right.
“God has given us this responsibility; we should be thankful that we have been chosen to carry out a task.”
His greatest duty as a government official, he said, is to improve the nation by encouraging people to love, think, and build Liberia.
“Those of you who have chosen public service strive to improve the lives of others, including your children and unborn children,” Boakai explained.
The Liberia Leader urged commissioned officials to foster love, dedication, and integrity for the nation. Ambassador Boakai praised the government’s foreign allies for their encouragement and support.
“We must be grateful for the chance to serve, but we also acknowledge the stewardship and responsibility to build this nation for our people.”
Minister Dagoseh, the Minister of Commerce, expressed gratitude to the President for his trust in them as public servants and declared her appointment was a great responsibility.
As public servants, Minister Dagoseh clarified, they understand that the government’s success depends not just on their individual abilities but also on the strength of their teamwork.
“As ministries, we share a common goal and vision to help advance the agenda and Liberia overall.”
The Minister characterized Boakai’s leadership as a ray of optimism, honesty, and advancement.
Minister Dagoseh stated that Liberia will advance and pursue social, political, and economic growth under the direction of the Boakai-Koung administration.
She said, “As we take our oath of office, we recommit ourselves to that vision. President Boakai’s vision for a better Liberia has inspired others.”
Government representatives swore an oath to defend, uphold, and support Liberia’s Constitution and laws during the commissioning ceremony.
