SUPREME COURT REVOKE BOAKAI NOMINATIONS TO TENURE POSITIONS

Monrovia, Liberia – The Supreme Court of Liberia has directed President Joseph Boakai to withdraw government officials’ nominations for a number of tenure-track appointments.

The National Identification Registry, the Government Commission, the Liberia Telecommunication Authority, and the Liberia National Lottery Authority and others.

The Supreme Court’s entire bench upheld Justice Yussif Kaba’s alternative writ of prohibition in favor of the petitioners on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Chairman of the Governance Commission Atty. Garrison Yealue; Andrew Peters, Executive Director of the National Identification Registry; Edwina Zackpah; Israel Akinsanya; James Titus; Osborn Diggs; Commissioners and Chairperson of the Liberia Telecommunication Authority, Reginald Nagbe, the Director General of the Liberia National Lottery Authority, petitioned the Supreme Court for an alternative writ of prohibition, noting that President Boakai made appointments to tenure positions they are serving.
