Monrovia, Liberia – The President of the European Commission, Her Excellency Madam Ursula von der Leyen, received a congratulations message from Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., the President of the Republic of Liberia, on her reelection on July 18, 2024.
Warm congratulations were sent by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, as well as in his own name, to Her Excellency Madam Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, on her re-election.
President Boakai claimed in a statement released by the Foreign Ministry that her election to a five-year term as President of the European Commission was proof of her unwavering enthusiasm and her strong leadership during her tenure at the top of the commission.
“As a leader who has faced adversity and triumphed, I am confident that you will lead the commission through these challenging times on the continent of Europe and the world at large. I am also hopeful that under your stewardship, the bond subsisting between the European Union and Liberia will be further heightened as we explore new spheres of partnership and international cooperation”, President Boakai intoned.
President Boakai wished Madam Ursula von der Leyen continued health and unity and success for the citizens of the European Union.
