Monrovia, Liberia – A local pastor and a self-described religious critic got into a heated online argument that sparked a lot of discussion on Liberian social media. Mama Liberia public declaration that he does not believe in any religion sparked a heated debate among religious leaders and adherents.
He apologized to both Christians and Muslims in a detailed public statement, expressing their sincere contrition for any offensive remarks or deeds. He made it clear that he accepted full responsibility for any miscommunications that occurred between them and religious authorities, such as pastors and imams.
However, content creator Mama Liberia also voiced dissatisfaction with a certain pastor’s response, stating that the religious figure’s attitude was motivated more by rage than by comprehension. The statement claims that the preacher did not offer significant engagement and instead reacted angrily.
Mama Liberia maintained that their initial remark was a personal declaration of disbelief in organized religion rather than an assault on God or any religious entity. He wondered why some people saw such a personal belief as a slight to Christianity or Jesus Christ.
The social media influencer denounced what they perceived as the misuse of religion to promote divide, fear, and power. Ironically, Mama Liberia claims that the pastor’s response appeared to validate the very concerns he had voiced about hostility and religious intolerance.
The pastor was also accused of making personal remarks that suggested the individual was attempting to get notoriety or attention by causing trouble. Mama Liberia refuted these claims and questioned the validity and expertise of the pastor’s response.
As Mama Liberia voiced concerns about what they saw as inconsistencies in some religious leaders’ lifestyles, tensions increased even more. He cited social media engagement, lifestyle choices, and public displays of riches as proof that, in his opinion, some religious leaders might be commercializing faith.
A number of theological queries intended to spark debate over religious narratives were also included in the statement. The biblical story of the serpent speaking to Eve, the beginning of humanity, the identity of Cain’s wife, and the viability of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea given its depth were among these.
Mama Liberia claims that these enquiries are meant to promote critical thinking and open communication rather than to incite contempt. He maintained that any truth-based belief system ought to be able to resist criticism without becoming enraged or hostile.
Mama Liberia, a well-known content creator, ended by expressing regret for any offence committed while upholding their freedom of belief and inquiry. He emphasized that disagreement should not result in hatred and that peace and understanding should continue to be at the forefront of public conversation, calling for tolerance between religious and nonreligious people.
