Rep. Bility Characterize GAC as dishonest and indolent

Monrovia, Liberia – The General Auditing Commission has been characterized as a corrupt and indolent government agency by Musa Hassan Bility, representative for Nimba County’s Electoral District number 7.

Speaking on a local radio station OK FM Monday, April 22, 2024, in Monrovia, Representative Bility claimed that the anti-graft organization, the GAC, is to blame for the nation’s widespread corruption since it is an integrity institution that had neglected to check government directives.

The legislator from Nimba County said that the National Legislature is among the government bodies that the General Auditing Commission is legally entitled to audit as a legitimate government institution.

According to Representative Bility, the National Legislature’s alleged involvement in money laundering stems from the relevant auditing body’s purported inability to carry out its duties in a fair and constitutional manner.

Additionally, he pleaded with the General Auditing Commission to end the hold-up and conduct an impartial audit of the National Legislature.

Representative Bility is one of several prominent Liberians who have leveled accusations of corruption and poor governance against the legislature.

The national legislature has been charged by Representative Yekeh Kolubah of Montserrado County District 10 with impeding Liberia’s advancement.

During an interview, Representative Kolubah urged Liberians to elect new Liberians who will serve the people’s interests and purge the current members of the national legislature.
