NEC; Sinoe is Yet to Complete Voting Process

Monrovia, Liberia – The National Election Commission has declared that due to heavy rain and floods in the Karquekpo and Jarpuken areas, voting in Sinoe County’s electoral district #2 is yet to complete.

In addition, Togbaville in Electoral District #3 of Sinoe County did not hold an election due to poor road conditions, according to NEC Chairperson Davietta Brown Lasanah, who made this announcement during a press conference on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at NEC headquarters in Monrovia.

”It is important to note that during the transportation of election supplies, such as ballots for the two precincts, some of the supplies became wet from the intense rain and flooding.”

Madam Lassana reported that elections were successfully held in all precincts in Rivercess County, with the exception of precinct 36007, where materials for the election arrived late than expected in Suakon Debah Town. But noted that elections took place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, a report she received from the magistrate.

Saygbeken, Jokoken, Gbateken Kajaliken, and Ducorfree are among the five precincts in Sinoe where NEC notified Liberians that they had not received any information regarding the outcome of elections there thus far due to accessibility issues and a lack of mobile network coverage.

Noting that every effort is being made to conclude the election in the impacted areas, NEC added that, the commission will notify interested parties on the conduct of elections whenever it is feasible to reach such places.
