The sports icon and educator also praised Alphonso Davies of the men’s national team of Canada, who also has ties to Liberia. Born on November 2, 2000, in Buduburam Camp, Ghana, Alphonso Boyle Davies later immigrated to Canada as a refugee. He is a professional soccer player for the Canadian national team and Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, where he plays as a left defender or winger. Due to his speed, dribbling, and creativity, he is considered one of the best full-backs in the world.
Canada will begin their Qatar World Cup journey against Belgium at 7 pm on Wednesday, November 23.
