Sinkor, Monrovia – Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the leader of the opposition Unity Party, has pledged to establish an inclusive administration upon winning the presidency of Liberia. The UP standard bearer admitted at a press conference on Thursday, October 19, 2023, in Monrovia that it is hard to get all the brightest brains and skills within a single party to grow and develop a nation.
“One thing I know very well is that all the talents and ideas we need to rebuild our country cannot be found within a single party, tribe, county, region, or religion. That’s why I am committed to forming a government of inclusion when, with God’s blessing, we ultimately achieve our grand goal of democratically removing President Weah from the Executive Mansion in the coming days and weeks.”
“We will establish a government that truly reflects the political, ethnic, regional, religious, and gender diversity of our country. We will create a government where a Liberian’s true worth is not determined by loyalty to a party but by loyalty to the country, as well as their ability and willingness to contribute to our nation’s progress.”
Using the occasion, Amb. Boakai urged other opposition figures and Liberians as a whole to accompany him on what he called a noble quest to bring back freedom to Liberia.
“It is in light of this that I issue a clarion call to all of you today, urging you to summon the patriotic courage to rise once more, traverse long distances, defy adverse weather conditions, and endure the long queues at your respective polling places to cast your votes for the liberation of our beloved Mama Liberia. Together, we can and will effectively address the challenges facing our country, invest in healthcare, education, agriculture, and encourage foreign investments, thereby uplifting our nation and securing the future of our youth, who have suffered due to the actions and inactions of a government that seems indifferent.”
“Let us rise against the current state of our nation and our existence as a people. I urge all of us to use our sacred votes to shape the destiny of this nation. Let us deal a decisive blow to mediocrity, corruption, ethnic conflicts, and this misguided approach to governance. Let us free Liberia from the grip of mismanagement and incompetence. The opportune moment is here and now.”
