    “Lead With Integrity”

    EFFL Gonquio Charges Monttserrado Leadership.

Monrovia, Liberia – Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL) Commander-in-Chief Emmanuel Gonguio has tasked the recently inducted leaders of the EFFL chapter in Montserrado County to lead with honor, bravery, and a spirit of revolution.

He views their appointment to the Montserrado County leadership as a demonstration of their colleagues’ faith and confidence in their ability to govern.

During the induction ceremony on Monday, January 27, 2024, Gonquio urged them to join the EFFL because a new progressive path is needed. He said that being a leader in the movement is not a privilege but rather a duty to uplift others and further the goal of economic liberation.

“As the nation’s economic and political center, Montserrado County holds a pivotal place in the struggle, and it is here that the voices of the masses echo the loudest.” The EFFL Commander-in-Chief clarified that the movement must intensify the fight against exploitation, corruption, and inequality.

“This fight is now being led by you, the Montserrado leaders. The people’s hopes are on your shoulders, and the nation’s eyes are on you,” he remarked.

Gonquio, however, urged the recently appointed authority to stand up for the people since a wealthy minority had monopolized Liberia’s natural riches, leaving the majority in poverty and hopelessness.

He said, “We fight because healthcare is a fundamental right and no one should suffer or die due to a lack of medical services, because decent housing and safe living conditions should be available to all citizens, not just the wealthy, and because every Liberian deserves access to quality education that empowers them to build a better future.”

“We fight because the work of Liberia’s people should be valued, and everyone deserves the dignity of fair wages and meaningful work,” the EFFL Commander-in-Chief continued.

“We fight because corruption and exploitation continue to rob the nation of progress and fairness, because systemic inequality deprives the marginalized and voiceless of opportunities to thrive, because the wealth of our nation should be shared equitably to create prosperity for all, not just an elite minority, because economic liberation is the foundation for justice, freedom, and equality, because the future of Liberia belongs to its people, and we must abolish systems that perpetuate oppression and suffering.”

The new leadership’s mandate, according to CIC Gonquio, is to mobilize and organize, empower and educate, maintain accountability, lead by example, and further the cause.

He maintained that the EFFL is a mirror of suffering, aspirations, and desires, not merely a political movement. He explained that the EFFL will demand a Liberia where justice is upheld, opportunities are equitable, and money is distributed, challenging the current state of affairs. However, we cannot do this on our own.

“The powers of tyranny and greed will fight us every step of the way. They will attempt to stifle our voices, erode our commitment, and split us apart. However, we must stand together because, when we do, we are an invincible force, Gonquio stated.

He encouraged the leadership to embrace the truth as they work together to demolish exploitative structures and establish a Liberia that works for its people, emphasizing that the people’s strength is stronger than that of those in authority.

“We only chose to commission our Montserrado County leadership, not the 700 District officials from the 17 Districts, because we wanted you to witness our party’s authority. “In the coming weeks, we will commission our Montserrado County District officials,” he stated.
