Motorcyclists in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County have petitioned the county’s authorities to intervene into what they called hike in the price of gasoline in the county. The motorcyclists stated in their petition that gas and local filling stations have increased the price of petroleum products from six hundred-fifty Liberian dollars per gallon to one thousand Liberian dollars.
According to them, the situation has created serious embarrassment to their business and added that customers are complaining about the transportation fair as a result of the increment. Responding to the petition at a news conference on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, in Grand Bassa, the County Information Officer Eddie Williams cautioned the motorcyclists to exhibit restrain, promising that the situation will be addressed through the commerce inspector of Grand Bassa County.
He said the county officials have noticed that there is no shortage of gasoline in the county and promised that there will be serious action taken. Also speaking, Grand Bassa County Commerce Inspector Sensee Wobah clarified that the situation is not in accordance with the government regulations.
Mr. Wobah assured the motorcyclist that his team is working with the county authorities and the local police detachment to address the issues. The issue of shortage of gasoline on the world market is yet to hate Liberia according to the government and petroleum dealers.
