Monrovia, Liberia – In the wake of the tragic death of at least fifty-six (56) people due to a contentious refereeing call during a soccer match between N’Zérékoré and Labe in N’Zérékoré City, Guinea on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Liberia President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a condolence message to the government and people of the Republic of Guinea.
According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, President Boakai conveyed his deep sorrow over the deaths of the 56 people in a letter to His Excellency General Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic of Guinea.
According to a Foreign Ministry statement, President Boakai expressed the government and people of the Republic of Guinea, particularly the bereaved family, his sincere sympathies for the incalculable loss on behalf of the Liberian government and people.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of national mourning, and we hope that the Almighty Allah grants you and the people of Guinea the strength and resilience needed to navigate through this difficult period”, President Boakai said.
