God’s Anointed Kickball Club has threatened to place an injunction on the pending National County Sports Meet if the Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) failed to lift what it calls illegal suspension on its players.
It can be recalled that the LKF President Susprise Weah unilaterally suspended nine players of God’s Anointed players and fined the club for allegedly disrupting the 2021 LKF Knockout Final.
Gods Anointed in a statement said, the decision by President Weah violated several statutes of the federation including Chapter 9, Section 9.1 which states that games are postponed due to “force majure” or other factors such as heavy downpour of rain, natural circumstances, riot and outbreak of violence shall continue where it stops with the same team of players, match official, while all points and home runs shall be upheld.
God’s Anointed alleged that the federation changed the match officials during the semifinal match against CYE which was called off due to force majure in violation of the statutes.
Gods Anointed also noted that the LKF President Singlehandedly took the decision to fine and suspend the club and players without reaching the matter to the disciplinary committee, which violates Article 11.2, section 26.2 which states that the Ethics and grievance committee along with the Disciplinary Committee shall have the first jurisdiction in all protest matters and complaint, and must advise the parties concerned through the LKF Secretariat in writing or its decision after a complete and thorough investigation not exceeding seven (7) days.
God’s Anointed said, not only that the team players have been prevented from participating in this year’s games, but they have also been denied scholarship opportunities by schools on the instruction of LKF President Surprise Weah.
The club also alleged that it lost the 2021 League title which it was the favorite to win with less than three games to the end of the season, and also lost the knockout championship as a result of the fine and suspension of nine of its players.
