Brewerville, Montserrado – As part of the efforts to memorialise the late Professor Dr. Amos C. Sawyer at the Kaiser memorial garden in Brewerville, his wife and family members officially set a Mable stone over his grave. According to member of his family, the symbolic laying of the Mable stone on Dr. Sawyer’s grave is aimed at memorializing (him). This is also in observanceof their 40th wedding anniversary. The late Dr. Amos C. Sawyer and Mrs. Thelma C. E. Sawyer got married on October 28,1983.
As another way to come together in memory of the late Dr. Amos Claudius Sawyer, Mrs. Sawyer and family members, along with a number of other friends, gathered at the Kaiser memorial commentary in Brewerville over the weekend.
The wife of the late Amos, could not hold back her tears as she lay flower on her late husband’s grave. “As you already know that today mark our 40th wedding anniversary and I am here today to officially lay the Mable stone on your grave in your remembrance, I also want to let you know that we still love you and will always remember all of the good things that you’ve done.”
Dr. Sawyer left behind a legacy of fortitude, statesmanship, and dedication to democratic principles. His leadership at a turbulent time in Liberia and his scholarly and diplomatic accomplishments have made a lasting impression on both the country and the continent of Africa.
Professor Dr. Sawyer was a prominent Liberian political figure who played a significant role in Liberian history. His leadership and dedication to rebuilding Liberia continue to inspire future generations of political leaders.
