Paynesville-Liberia’s president, George Manneh Weah, has urged all citizens to practice peace at all times, particularly in light of the nation’s forthcoming elections in 2023. In his sermon at the Forky Klon Jlaleh Family Fellowship Church in Paynesville, President Weah made the call.
President Weah, who formerly held the position of Peace Ambassador, urged Liberians to avoid using violence and war as a solution to their problems and to instead engage in diplomacy, talks, and roundtable discussions that will result in a peaceful outcome.
The former UNICEF Peace Ambassador denied allegations that he was associated with warlord organizations in Liberia during the civil conflict. During the 14 years of the Liberian civil war, when he chose to serve as UNICEF Ambassador to Liberia, he said that he never engaged in any action that would be detrimental to the Liberian people. Instead, he was an advocate for Liberians.
The Liberian leader has urged politicians who wish to depose him peacefully and in compliance with the law to do so. He has urged them to avoid using violence. As Liberians and the entire nation have gone through many terrible times, Mr. Weah argued that peace should be the rule.
