Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has ordered all government officials to declear their assets in accordance with anti-graft legislation in an effort to bolster the nation’s battle against corruption and promote honesty in public service.
“I am mandating all officials of government to immediately declare their assets to comply with anti-graft regulations as required, and more importantly, ensure the promotion of integrity in public service.”
During the commissioning ceremony of heads of agencies and members of the cabinet on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Executive Mansion, the president declared that corruption will not be allowed in his government and that those found guilty will face the full force of the law.
“Let it be known that we will not tolerate corruption and pilferage from the people’s coffers, as those found to be in breach of our anti-graft laws will give account and pay the price.”
In his State of the Nation address, President Boakai told the world that his administration will not operate on a “business as usual” basis and challenged ministers, heads of agencies, and advisors to carry out their responsibilities effectively for the benefit of the public.
The President emphasized that in order to accomplish the developmental agenda that has been set for the next six years, the Cabinet, which is the highest decision-making body of the government, must perform at the highest level in delivering on government priorities. In order to transform the nation, President Boakai urged individuals appointed to execute their duties with professionalism.
“your compatriots have entrusted you with a responsibility to deliver the service they need. You must rise above the privilege and trappings of your official roles and find fulfillment in the joy of genuinely transforming your country.”
