Monrovia, Liberia -In response to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission’s (LACC) inquiry into allegations of payroll padding under the Supplementary Payroll system, the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs has taken action.

Following a comprehensive review of the LACC’s findings, which involved interviews, statement collection, and financial record analysis, the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs said in a release dated November 13, 2024, that it had fired three employees and reinstated one.

Among those fired were Mr. Mohammed S. Kromah, Assistant Minister for Human Resources; Atty. Harry B. Sando, Financial Comptroller; and Lamine Sharpe, Director of Budget/Finance, for violating government rules that led to the misappropriation of public monies.

James Y. Tolker, the Deputy Financial Controller, has been restored after being exonerated of any role in the scam.

The announcement claims that the measures demonstrate the Ministry’s dedication to openness, moral leadership, and safeguarding public funds. Changes are being made to stop such events in the future.

The Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs maintained that remains dedicated to upholding public trust and safeguarding Liberia’s resources. Further reforms are being instituted to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.
