Monrovia, Liberia – As the Communist Party of China (CPC) celebrated its 105th anniversary, President Joseph N. Boakai reiterated Liberia’s steadfast commitment to the One-China Policy while applauding China’s remarkable economic transformation and advocating for increased cooperation in agriculture, infrastructure, health, education, mining, renewable energy, and digital innovation.
Speaking on Friday, June 26, 2026, at a celebration honouring the establishment of the Communist Party of China at the Chinese Embassy in Liberia, President Boakai called China’s transformation from a country facing enormous difficulties to the second-largest economy in the world “remarkable,” attributing the accomplishment to visionary leadership, long-term planning, and an unwavering dedication to enhancing the lives of its people.
“The founding of the Communist Party in July 1921 marked the beginning of a remarkable transformation, noting that China’s development has inspired many developing countries, including Liberia,” he added.
The Liberian leader reaffirmed his government’s steadfast support for the One-China Policy, recognizing the government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing China, describing the policy as the cornerstone of the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Monrovia and Beijing. President Boakai also acknowledged Beijing’s investments in roads, hospitals, schools, technical aid, and other development projects while praising China’s assistance during Liberia’s most trying times, such as the 2014 Ebola outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to him, Liberia sees further chances to strengthen bilateral collaboration in the areas of agriculture, renewable energy, industrialisation, digital technology, health, education, infrastructure, mining, and private sector investment under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. However, Boakai called for expanded trade, increased scholarships, stronger cultural exchanges and enhanced collaboration under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), emphasizing that Liberia and China have built a partnership founded on mutual respect, trust and shared prosperity.
“The Liberia-China partnership continues to grow stronger because it is built on trust, mutual respect, mutual benefit and a shared vision for development,” the president declared.
