FC Fassell will welcome top football clubs across Africa, including East End Lions (Sierra Leone), or Kallon FC (Sierra Leone), Sewe Sports de San Pedro (Ivory Coast), and Cotton Sports FC (Benin), each a champion in their respective countries.
Established in 2011, the “Soccer for Peace” Tournament is an annual football event bringing together elite teams from all throughout Africa in celebration of peace, solidarity, and socioeconomic development via the game of football. Organised by FC Fassell, the tournament has rapidly grown to be a pillar event dedicated to motivating change and promoting kindness by the beautiful game.
Cassell Anthony Kuoh, President and Chairman of the “Soccer for Peace” Tournament, expressed his excitement for the upcoming event.
“Football has the unique power to bridge divides, foster unity, and inspire positive change. The ‘Soccer for Peace’ Tournament is more than just a competition; it is a platform for promoting peace and socio-economic development across Africa and beyond.”
With an eye toward the tournament’s larger goal of using football as a catalyst for togetherness, peace, and socioeconomic development, the 2024 edition promises to be even more powerful. With more clubs on the roster, this year’s event is expected to draw major local and international interest, hence strengthening its importance on the African football calendar.
“Hosting this event in Buchanan, a city known for its resilience and rich cultural legacy, is particularly meaningful. By combining these championship teams in Grand Bassa County, we are not only showcasing top-tier football talent but also investing in the local economy, giving young engagement opportunities, and so strengthening our shared commitment to peace and unity.”
As a sports industry thought leader, Cassell Anthony Kuoh underlined the need of holding this event twice since its founding in 2011.
“The inaugural event set a remarkable standard; we are delighted to build on that basis in 2024. This year’s tournament will provide unforgettable experiences both on and off the field thanks to increased participation, better facilities, and more attention on community involvement,” Kouh remarked.
Having individually claimed championships in their own nations, the invited teams East End Lions or Kallon FC from Sierra Leone, Sewe Sports de San Pedro from Ivory Coast, and Cotton Sports FC of Benin bring with them a tradition of achievement. Their involvement emphasizes the great degree of rivalry and the common principles of peace and unity the event aims to further.
“The ‘Soccer for Peace’ Tournament is about showcasing how sports might be a strong force for good, not only about crowning a champion,” Kuoh said.
