As land disputes have become a major problem in the country, several citizens of Nimba County are calling on President George Weah to quickly intervene in the many land dispute cases across the country as means of maintaining the peace of the country.
It can be recalled in early 2021, there were a series of land conflicts across the country, especially Nimba County, something which led to the firing of guns, some death, and several injuries.
Land conflicts that led to several injuries and death were healed between the Mandingo, Gio, and Mano tribes, the situation that created fear among businessmen and women in Nimba County.
Many land disputes cases in Liberia are a serious challenge that government and stakeholders are finding every possible means to put under control. The most talked-about counties of land cases include Margibi, Grand Bassa, Montserrado, Bong, and Nimba among other counties.
In a mixed reaction, the citizens informed Reports231 on Thursday, January 13, 2022, in Ganta City that the series of land dispute cases in the country has the propensity to undermine the peace and stability of Liberia.
They at the same time recommended that the Coalition for Democratic Change leg Government set up a committee to work with the Liberia Land Authority to investigate land dispute cases across the country.
They maintained that such action by the government will solve the many land dispute cases in the country.
Issues surrounding the Ganta Land dispute in Nimba County and other parts of the country, continue to remain a paramount concern for citizens and partners. The Liberian Leader, President George Weah has continued to encourage all citizens to be calm and careful with issues surrounding land ownership. He at the same time asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Liberia Land Authority, and other stakeholders to settle the issues with land disputes around the country.
President Weah during his county tour in early 2021, started the campaign to engage with people in the South East concerning land disputes, especially land disputes between Maryland and Grand Gedeh, Maryland, and Sinoe Counties.
