PUL to complaint Liberian FA to CAF and FIFA for match-fixing

The Press Union of Liberia through its Secretary-General has vowed to write the Confederation of African Football and FIFA calling on them to investigate the Liberia Football Association for alleged involvement in match-fixing.

According to Mr. Musa Kanneh, the LFA arranging Morocco as a home venue for the 2022 AFCON qualifiers while being paired in the same group is an act of match-fixing, and as such, the PUL wants CAF and FIFA to investigate the situation.

The PUL Secretary-General stated that the Liberian FA should have arranged Ghana or Guinea as the home venue instead of the North Africans who are also opponents in group K vying for qualifications for the Ivory Coast 2023 Nations Cup.

The former Press Union of Liberia Legislative reporter of the year award winner made the revelations when he appeared on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, edition of the OK Morning Rush.

” If the LFA is unable to manage the National team due to financial aspects, they should just tell us so we can sit on this very platform and raise money to support our team. The National team is our nation’s pride which we will not sit back and allow it to go down the dream, Mr. Kanneh said”.

“It is proven that our national stadium is banned from hosting competitive international matches due to its failure to meet CAF and FIFA minimum stadium requirements, but why arranged a home match in your opponents’ territory when every one of you is vying for qualifications from the same group, the PUL”, Secretary-General asked.

” Again, I learned that the LFA is unable to play her home match in Ghana because of 20K USD charged by the Ghanaian government. Why the LFA can’t make it public if the government is not supporting the National team”, Mr. Kanneh continued?

Meanwhile, the President of the Liberia Football Association, Mustapha Raji, has over the years rained praises on President George Weah for his tireless support towards football.

According to Mr. Raji, besides President Weah’s local support towards football, he has played a pivotal role in his election as the executive of the Confederation of African Football.

The LFA boss made the assertions when he appeared on a local radio station in Monrovia, OK Afternoon Conversation in 2021.
