Selects Abraham Avi Zaidenberg as Head of the Association
Monrovia, Liberia -The first meeting of the U.S. Business Dialogue took place at the US Embassy in Monrovia on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, bringing together over forty American businesses operating in Liberia. The event was a major step toward strengthening business relations between the US and Liberia.
A unanimous decision to establish the American Business Association in Liberia (ABAIL), an organization committed to fostering cooperation among American-owned businesses while assisting Liberia’s investment climate and economic growth, marked the conclusion of the inaugural meeting.
Participants selected Mr. Abraham Avi Zaidenberg to serve as the proposed association’s temporary head during the meeting, giving him the responsibility of spearheading the formal establishment and registration of ABAIL as a Liberian legal body.
Mr. Zaidenberg is the chairman of the boards of the Telecom International Alliance (TIA) and the Liberia Maritime Training Institute (LMTI), as well as the managing director of the LISCR Trust Company. He was hailed by the meeting’s business leaders as a well-respected member of Liberia’s business community with a wealth of expertise and a long history of service to the nation, making him an ideal candidate to lead the new organization in its early stages.
Mr. Zaidenberg has been actively involved in promoting American economic interests in Liberia for over thirty years, even before the country’s civil war. His institutional expertise, leadership abilities, and capacity to unite disparate parties in pursuit of shared economic objectives were commended by the participants.
The meeting’s discussions indicated that ABAIL will concentrate on developing new American investment opportunities in Liberia, fostering information-sharing and cooperation among American businesses, and boosting technical and commercial cooperation with the help of the US Embassy in Liberia.
The group also stated that it intends to work closely with the Liberian government and the Liberia Chamber of Commerce to promote the growth of a stronger and more resilient economy by encouraging responsible foreign investment and boosting private sector participation.
Speaking after being selected, Mr. Zaidenberg expressed gratitude to his peers for believing in him and pledged to put up great effort to unite American businesses operating in Liberia. He highlighted the need for collaboration, investment, and constructive engagement with Liberian institutions, emphasizing that American businesses can make a substantial contribution to the country’s economic growth, job creation, and private sector development.
The establishment of ABAIL, according to meeting participants, is a timely and smart move that can strengthen partnership, advocacy, and sustainable investment while also increasing economic ties between Liberia and the United States. Additionally, it is anticipated that the association’s formation will improve coordination between US businesses and offer a formal channel for resolving matters pertaining to investment, trade, and commerce in Liberia.
