Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has refuted claims made on social media that its Officer-in-Charge, Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitzgerald T. M. Biago, acquired a Toyota pickup truck from someone allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
The LDEA said in a statement on Friday, August 8, 2026, that Commissioner Biago did not accept the car, nor did he give anyone permission to do so. The agency further stated that it has not discovered any reliable proof or records to back up the assertion.
The LDEA emphasized that accusations should be proven through due process rather than being regarded as established facts and invited anyone with verifiable proof of misbehavior involving its personnel to report it to the relevant investigative authorities for an independent investigation.
The Agency stated that it is still dedicated to stopping drug trafficking, safeguarding communities, and upholding the law without fear or favor while reiterating its zero-tolerance policy on corruption and involvement with criminal networks.
Additionally, the LDEA urged the public and media to confirm information before disseminating or publishing claims that can harm people’s reputations or erode trust in national security organizations.
