Nyonblee-Koffa heads Liberia’s 55th National Legislature

Capital Hill, Monrovia – On Monday, January 15, 2024, the 55th legislature formally succeeded the 54th.
Newly elected lawmakers and their re-elected colleagues take the oath of office to begin the 55th legislature.

Voting for the House Speaker position took place in the House of Representatives today, January 15, 2024, with Cllr. Fonati Koffa being declared the winner. Cllr. Koffa won with 35 votes to Koon’s 31 votes. Rep. Richard Koon and former Deputy Speaker Fonati Koffa competing against one another was a huge competition in the house, as it was the outgoing government Coilation for Democratic Change versus the incoming government Unity Party.

Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has been named the new Senate Pro-Temporary of the Liberian Senate by the Senators.
