Monrovia, Liberia – Lonestar Cell and Orange GSM providers’ representatives have been called before the House of Representatives plenary to address grievances regarding subpar network connectivity.
Representative Ivar Jones of Margibi County Electoral District #2 chaired the House’s Committee on Post and Telecommunications, which thoroughly investigated the situation after Representative Johnson Williams’ complaints about the two GSM companies’ poor performance prompted the action.
Representative Jones presented important recommendations in the report to enhance Orange and Lonestar Cell MTN’s telecommunications services for the people of Liberia.
Meanwhile, Orange has promised to upgrade to 4G services by 2024, while Lonestar MTN has promised to build an extra 300 new towers by the end of the same year.
Both networks have not been offering Liberians the proper services since the start of this year. Under the Weah administration, the networks’ credit limit was 45 minutes; however, under the Boakai led government, the same three-day automaton equates to 90 minutes.
Both GSM companies continue to struggle to provide quality service to the nation, especially the internet and brake in calls.
