Monrovia, Liberia – A large fire impairs the Ministry of Transportation’s regular operations, and the communication advisor for President Weah characterises the recent burning of public buildings as suspicious.
On Monday, January 8, 2024, firefighters from the Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service combat a dense cloud of smoke that obscures the Ministry of Transportation and hinders regular business operations in Monrovia.
Road users and Ministry of Transport staff were unable to enter the facilities due to the smoke, while the exact cause of the problem was still unknown.
Lemue Kleme, the Ministry of Transport’s head of communications, told OK FM, a local radio station, that the problem began in the basement early on Monday but was resolved due to the presence of the National Fire Service’s intervention.
